Caregiver support

The Second Mile Club at Kensington Health offers complementary caregiver support for unpaid caregivers living in the Toronto area. This program is open to all caregivers and includes one-on-one support, peer-based group support, and information sessions on a variety of topics including:

  • Understanding the caregiver role and its stresses
  • Understanding the cognitive and emotional changes of ageing
  • Understanding anticipatory grief and bereavement
  • Developing skills for effective communication
  • Accessing resources and effective advocacy
  • Mindfulness
  • Complementary therapies (reiki, art therapy)

Our Caregiver Support Program provides comprehensive holistic support to individuals who take on the role of caring for their friends or family members. We recognize that caregivers need support that is accessible and individual to their needs. There is no cost to be part of our Caregiver Support Program. Caregiver club

This drop-in group meets every Thursday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 25 Brunswick Avenue (lunch is provided).

Discussion topics include finding caregiving resources, coping strategies, feelings and peer group support. This program is complimentary and available to all unpaid caregivers. To register, contact us.
