Our work at The Eye Bank of Canada (Ontario Division) would not be possible without the strength, generosity and courage of the donor families who have decided to give the gift of sight during a very difficult time in their lives.
All of our eye and tissue donations are coordinated through the Trillium Gift of Life Network and we are thankful for the personal support they provide to donor families. For more information about donor and family support from Trillium, visit: https://www.giftoflife.on.ca/en/donorsupport.htm
At The Eye Bank, we provide the opportunity for transplant recipients to write an anonymous letter to the donor families. We share this letter along with a certificate of acknowledgement with the donor family. The certificate acknowledges the deceased donor who provided the enduring gift of sight.
All correspondence between donor families and recipients is handled through The Eye Bank. We ensure all names and identifiers are left anonymous to protect the confidentiality of both parties.
